This book, first in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series introduces us to Karou. A mysterious artist who is living in Prague...for now. Friends who know her only knows she's a beautiful girl with bright blue hair who has to leave unexpectedly for hours or even days. And often she returns with unexplained injuries. Karou meets a seraphim, which the man that is like a father has told her is the enemy and her instincts, and his, tell each other to fight. But what happens next is an unexpected as anything for both of them. As their two worlds collide and their secrets come out, will the violence and sins from the past destroy all?
I listened to this on audio book, and the narrator, Khristine Hvam won an Audie Award for her narration. It is well-deserved, as it is beautifully read and brought to life in a fantastical manner.
