The Amazing Screw-On Head and Other Curious Objects, by Mike Mignola, 104 pages
This is a series of unrelated short works by the creator of Hellboy. The first story, about the Amazing Screw-on Head, is about a hero-head that can be screwed on to different bodies, whom President Lincoln asks to go fight Emperor Zombie. The rest of the work, or "Other Curious Objects," includes a variation on Jack and the Beanstalk, where an old woman swallows the magic beans and the massive beanstalk grows out of her corpse; a short story about a magician that makes relatively no sense at all, but that can be forgiven since it was written by the author's seven-year old daughter; and several other tales that felt like filler and just left me scratching my head in confusion. I believe this is aimed at adults, but there is nothing to prevent a mature younger reader from appreciating it.
