The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo - 201 pages
Peter knows that the fortuneteller must be lying when she tells him that his sister is alive and an elephant will lead him to her. And then a magician causes an elephant to appear in the Opera House. Now Peter with the help of a policeman, a stonecarver, a noblewoman, a beggar, a nun, and the magician must find a way to send the elephant back home and find his sister.
This was a truly magical story. The way all the separate story lines came together in the final happy ending was wonderful. The narrator of the audio book was quite good at distinguishing between the various characters with slight differences in her vocal tone and accent.
