Lettin It All Hang Out: an Autobiography, by RuPaul, 240 pages
RuPaul is one of my favorite people, so this autobiography did not disappoint. The writing is not the greatest, and it is quite strikingly a product of the '90s, but he manages to tell a pretty comprehensive story of his childhood and rise to fame. RuPaul gained fame as a drag queen, but only after years of struggle with drugs, alcohol and homelessness. Through it all, he remained true to himself, and that's what allowed him to reach his level of success. Fans of memoirs of famous people might be disappointed that it's not more salacious, but after all- he's a lady.
