Anna Dressed in Blood, by Kendare Blake

Anna Dressed in Blood, by Kendare Blake, 316 pages

Cas is like any ordinary teen- he travels the country with his Wiccan mother, killing vengeful ghosts with the athame that his father used until his untimely murder.  (I had to look up 'athame': it's a ceremonial dagger.)  Something pulls Cas to a particularly violent ghost in Ontario- Anna, dressed in blood and killing anyone who enters her house.  But Anna spares Cas, and he decides that he must find out the cause of her death and gory afterlife.  In the process, things get pretty scary, and Cas comes face to face with the cause of his own father's death.  It's a decent paranormal-angle ya book, but it was more gory than I guess I was expecting.  (Something about descriptions of flowing entrails just grosses me out).
