Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George - 280 pages
Galen,
a soldier returned from war working in the royal gardens, tries to help
the Princess Rose and her sisters from a mysterious curse.
This is a retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses.
The author has added quite a bit of back detail, fleshing out the fairy
tale into a full novel. I enjoyed this fairy tale retelling more than
the author's Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow which was a retelling of East of
the Sun, West of the Moon. I am looking forward to reading the next
book in the series about the younger princess Poppy.
