The Forgotten Affairs of Youth by Alexander McCall Smith

The Forgotten Affairs of Youth: An Isabel Dalhousie Novel by Alexander McCall Smith - 261 pages

The eighth book in this gently humorous series, set in Edinburgh. Isabel reluctantly agrees to help an Australian colleague, on sabbatical in Scotland, locate the biological father she has never met. Life is further complicated by Isabel's housekeeper, who is receiving investment advice from her spirit guide in the beyond; and an old antagonist's attempt to inveigle Isabel into publishing his nephew's essay in her scholarly Review. Isabel's incorrigible niece, Kat, blames Isabel when she runs afoul of the health inspectors for selling questionable mushrooms in her shop. Meanwhile, Isabel and her fiance, Jamie, are approaching a momentous decision in their personal relationship.
