The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare - 370 pages
Girl Meets Duke #1
Since his return from the war when he was badly injured and scarred, the Duke of Ashbury has been hiding in his London home -- never leaving it because of the fear he now inspires in men, women, and children. Then one day seamstress Emma Gladstone appears at his door demanding payment for the wedding dress she had made for Ashbury's former fiance. Ashbury proposes an unusual bargain -- he will marry Emma giving her all the money and security she craves while she gives him an heir. All this is to be done with no affection or dealings between them except in the bedroom in the dark so she can never see his scars. Emma accepts with a few revisions to their deal . . . .
This was a pretty amusing historical romance, There was a lot of humor in the story which I really enjoyed. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Rook by Sharon Cameron 456 pages
History has a way of repeating itself. In the Sunken City that was once Paris, all who oppose the new revolution are being put to the blade.
