Hope Lies Ahead by James Banks, Geoff Banks

 176 pages

"People who love prodigals often struggle in silence. This book lets you know that you are not alone and that there is hope. Pastor and author James Banks and his son Geoff Banks each write from their perspective, sharing their story of redemption and offering you hope while you are in the struggle. No matter what your prodigal is going through—addiction, turning from faith, worldly pursuits—you'll find encouragement to pray deeply, love generously, and cling to God for comfort, healing, and restoration during the difficult journey." --from the publisher

No pat answers, no thumping over the head with Bible verses, no condemnation, just encouragement for the journey. I give it five out of five stars.

Dark Night: A True Batman Story by Paul Dini

Dark Night: A True Batman Story by Paul Dini-129 pages

I started reading this thinking it was about Batman, but it is actually about one of the cartoonists who helped write one of the Batman cartoon shows. He was mugged one night on his way home and this story is mostly about his physical and mental recovery. It does include some details of writing for the Batman cartoon, though. Overall, it was a decent read, but not what I originally expected.

A Stolen Life: a memoir- Jaycee Dugard

A Stolen Life: a memoir- Jaycee Dugard 2011, 273 pages
Jaycee Dugard, a cute 11 year old kid, was kidnapped, assaulted, and held captive for over 18 years by Phillip and Nancy Garrido. This book was written by Jaycee Dugard as apart of her therapy after her separation from captivity.
Jaycee Dugard suffered things that a person shouldn't have to suffer. Yet it is important to see the triumph and healing that Jaycee Dugard has achieved.
I recommend this book.
