Claire Danvers is following through on her decision to leave Morganville, the small Texas college town secretly ran by vampires, to fulfill her dream to attend graduate school at MIT.  Clair leaves her friends and boyfriend behind and wants to stand on her own for a while to figure out her true place in the world.  Fate soon intervenes in the form of a sinister plot involving rogue government agents and secret experiments.  I enjoy this series and it's nice to see Claire growing into her own and getting a backbone and standing up for what she believes.

Book 11 in the Morganville Vampires continues to illustrate that student Claire Danvers just can't catch a break.  Vampires are disappearing in Morganville without a trace and the vampire power structure is shaken by the arrival of an ancient enemy.  Claire and her friends are thrown in the middle of the drama when one is kidnapped, and the others are put in mortal danger.  This series is teen vampire fiction at its best.  The characters are believable within the context of the story, the world created within the book has internal logic, and the action is unrelenting.
