This is the fourth book in the Queen's Thief series, which is a favorite of mine.
In The King of Attolia, Sophos went missing and was presumed dead, but he is in fact working as a slave for his own Baron, the one who arranged his kidnapping. A life of physical labor and no princely expectations is surprisingly satisfying for Sophos, who would have been content there -- if only he were not forced to choose between staying anonymous and returning to royalty. Remembering all he has learned from Gen, Sophos is going to change life for all three kingdoms and prove himself to be anything but weak and naive.
Of all Turner's characters, I find Sophos to be the most lovable because of his goodness and inability to tell a lie, accompanied by strength and durability.

A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner -- 352 pages

Fourth and last book in the series "The Queen's Thief" this book focuses on Sophos, the nephew of the King of Sounis. From being heir of the king, to kidnappee, to a slave in a field in his own kingdom, Sophos' story is exciting and challenging as Sophos strives in every situation to do as his friend Eugenides would do.

The writing style of this book is particularly enjoyable, as Sophos is telling the story from his point of view, something we have never heard before, and he shows himself to be more capable than we would expect.

In possibly my favorite book in the series "The Queen's Thief", the young guard, Costis, serves for the King of Attolia, but his real loyalty lies with the Queen. Only a fool would show respect to a King who gained his throne through scheming and thievery.

Costis positively hates the King, but his contempt slowly chips away to grudging respect.

This book is full of more character and character development than the first two, but it still is gripping and charming, and the character detail is pleasing.

This is the sequel to "The Thief."

Eddis goes to war with Attolia, but meanwhile Eugenides is fighting his own personal battle, one of pain and loss. 

Picking up from where they last book left off, Eugenides is charming and lovable as ever, but with a lot more on his plate. He has to steal a queen.

This book was as enjoyable as the first with a shocking twist at the end that was incredibly satisfying. 

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner -- 304 pages

Gen is a thief who has been imprisoned in the King's dungeons for quite awhile after he stole the King's seal. He is suddenly pulled out of the dungeon to be sent on a quest with a few others to steal something of great importance, something that the King greatly wants, and something that they are relying on Gen to steal for them.

One of the best teen fiction books I have read. Though the story line is a big slow going until the end, the writing style is engaging and the main character is charming. Very enjoyable.
