Happily Ever After: Companion to the Selection Series by Kiera Cass

Happily Ever After: Companion to the Selection Series by Kiera Cass-387 pages

Happily Ever After is a collection of novellas and short stories set in the Selection series. Many of the stories are events from either The Elite or The One from a different character's perspective (such as The Prince, The Guard, The Favorite, and The Maid). Also, there is a story about the selection where King Clarkson chose Amberly to be Queen of Illea. I really liked reading these stories from multiple perspectives different from America's. For instance, there is a major event from The Elite that is told from Aspen and Marlee's perspective that was eye-opening. It was fun to read these "old" stories from "new" perspectives and the new stories not told in The Selection series.

The Crown (The Selection #5) by Kiera Cass

The Crown (The Selection #5) by Kiera Cass-279 pages

I have finally finished this series (except for the extras/Happily Ever After). I really enjoyed reading this series by Kiera Cass. The ending is very satisfactory, although I would like a longer epilogue. Cass ties most everything up in a neat bow. I enjoyed reading the last two books (The Heir and The Crown) from Eadlyn's (the eventual queen) point of view. It is a different dynamic from the first three books from America's perspective as one of the Selected. All in all, I am glad I decided to read this series. I look forward to reading Happily Ever After, which includes some bonus stories set in Illea.

The Heir (The Selection #4) by Kiera Cass

The Heir (The Selection #4) by Kiera Cass-342 pages

This is the next to last book in The Selected series. This time it is 20 years later and America and Maxon (now queen and king of Illea) have a daughter named Eadlyn who is first in line for the throne and agrees to hold her own Selection. Instead of being from the perspective of one of the Selected like the first 3 books, this one is from Eadlyn's (the Selector, if you will) perspective. It is a bit of a change, but I like it. At first, Eadlyn doesn't really want to try, but as the book and the Selection goes on she starts to warm to the idea of love and marriage. I am ready to read The Crown, which is the 5th and final book of the series. So far, I have really enjoyed reading this series and look forward to the conclusion.

The One (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass

The One (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass-323 pages

I have really enjoyed reading this series thus far. This is a great "ending" of sorts to the Selection part of the story that began with the first book (The Selection). A lot of loose ends are tied up and the ending of the book is very satisfying. A few twists and turns come along the way, which kept me on the edge of my seat. While there are some sad moments, I don't think the ending of the book could be much better. I am looking forward to continuing the series.

The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass

The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass-323 pages

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this series, but I am really enjoying it. I liked this one as much as The Selection. I like the writing and the characters, especially America Singer and Marlee and even Prince Maxon. The Selection has now been whittled down to six at the beginning of this book and America is still sorting through her feelings about Maxon and Aspen and possibly being the princess of Illea.

The Selection (The Selection Series #1) by Kiera Cass

The Selection (The Selection Series #1) by Kiera Cass-327 pages

My sister gave this to me as a gift and I really enjoyed reading it. It is a teen dystopian novel unlike any other I have read. I enjoyed the Divergent series and the Hunger Games series, but I like this one even better so far. I am not usually into romance or reality tv, but this is so much more. I am looking forward to continuing the series and finishing it.
