Supernova by Marissa Meyer

Supernova (Renegades #3) by Marissa Meyer, 552 p.

"The epic conclusion to Marissa Meyer's thrilling Renegades Trilogy finds Nova and Adrian fighting to keep their identities secret. While the battle rages on between their alter egos and their allies, there is a darker threat shrouding Gatlon City.

The Renegades' worst enemy is back among them, threatening to reclaim Gatlon City. Nova and Adrian must brave lies and betrayal to protect those they love. Their greatest fears are about to come to life, and unless they can bridge the divide between heroes and villains, they stand to lose everything. Including each other.

Intrigue and action will leave readers on edge until the final, shocking secrets are revealed."--Goodreads blurb

I enjoyed this teen series more than I thought I would. It's a fun world to take yourself to, with heroes and villains living side-by-side with everyone else. The suspense was great in this last book and the conclusion was tidy.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Renegades (Renegades #1) by Marissa Meyer, 556 p.

"The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies — humans with extraordinary abilities — who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone... except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both."--Goodreads blurb

This book has been on my TBR for a while, and it was a fast, fun read. Nothing new or groundbreaking in the storyline, but the characters are likeable and the writing and story keep you interested. I am looking forward to finishing out the series.

Wires and Nerve, Volume 1 by Marissa Meyer

Wires and Nerve, Volume 1 by Marissa Meyer -- 240 pages

Note: if you haven't  read the first books in the series, this review will spoil everything.

Once upon a time, there was a cyborg mechanic who found out she was the lost lunar princess. And there was an emperor who fell in love with her, but didn't know she was a cyborg or a princess, until he finally found out. And there was a charming captain and a socially awkward hacker. There was a fiery redhead who drove spaceships and fired pistols, sometimes at the hybrid wolf soldier, who was actually a good guy. There was a princess who was renown for her beauty as well as for going crazy, but she had her loyal guard to protect her.

But there was also an android. And android with a strange personality. She started off small, but finally got her own humanoid body, and she was one of the nine who saved Earth and Luna. But only a few acknowledge that it wasn't just programming. She's not a regular android. But neither is she human. She's something in the middle.

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer -- 400 pages

This a collection of short stories from the Lunar Chronicles universe.

The Little Android: A retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” set in the world of The Lunar Chronicles.
Glitches: The young Cinder tries to love her new family until her step-father is taken away by the plague. From this story comes the line referenced in "Cinder," "Don't leave me with this thing."
The Queen’s Army: Since they successfully crossed the genes of a wolf with a twelve-year-old boy, Queen Levana is forming an army of hybrid soldiers, but one is determined not to become the monster they have made of him.
Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky: Thirteen-year-old Carswell Thorne has big plans involving a Rampion spaceship and a no-return trip out of Los Angeles.
The Keeper: The story of Michelle Benoit, Scarlet, and the young Princess Selene.
After Sunshine Passes By: The story of how Cress became the Queen's spy and ended up alone on a satellite.
The Princess and the Guard: It was the game that Winter and Jacin played as children before it became a reality. This is the story of Winter, her best friend, and her choice not to use her Lunar gift.
The Mechanic: In this prequel to Cinder, we see Kai and Cinder’s first meeting from Kai’s perspective.
Something Old, Something New: In this epilogue to Winter, friends gather for the wedding of the century...

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer -- 512 pages

(Yes, I'm listening to these again. Don't judge.)

Scarlet knows that her grandmother did not run away. Her grandmother is not crazy, and she most likely was kidnapped. Scarlet is ready to do anything to find and rescue her, and Wolf, a street fighter, might be able to help her.

Meanwhile Cinder escapes from her jail cell with another criminal, Thorne, who stole a spaceship from the American military. So, of course, they escape on this spaceship, but they can't stay in outer-space forever. As soon as they reenter earth's atmosphere, they risk being tracked down.

Emperor Kai is being hard pressed from all sides, but mostly from Lunar Queen Levana, who is furious about Cinder's escape, and threatening war if she isn't found.

Scarlet is the second book of The Lunar Chronicles.

Winter
The Lunar Chronicles
Book 4
by Marissa Meyer
Read by Rebecca Soler
832 pages

This is the final book in the lunar chronicles and I enjoyed them all. The stories were well written. I loved that all the characters were loosly based on fairy tale characters.

I listened to all four of the books in this series and enjoyed them a lot. It was great to have one person be the narrator for all the stories. The voices she gave to each character were recognizable as that character throughout all four books.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Cinder by Marissa Meyer - 390 pages

There's a prince, there's a ball, two steps sisters and a step mom, but all resemblance to the fairytale "Cinderella" stops there. Cinder is a cyborg, and a gifted mechanic because of it. But her world changes when Prince Kai himself steps into her booth to bring an android. It seems very important to him, even though the android is out of date, an old model. Even though she used to laugh at girls who tripped over Prince Kai, she finds herself liking him, all the while desperate to make sure he doesn't find out what she is.

But more than that will happen to Cinder. The plague is killing thousands of people, and via a cyborg draft, cyborgs are being tested in order to find an antibody. None of them survive.

This was my third time listening to Cinder, and I still love it.
This is book 1 of the Lunar Chronicles.

Cress - The Lunar Chronicles - Book 3 by Marissa Meyer

Cress
The Lunar Chronicles
Book 3
By  Marissa Meyer
552 pages

This is the third book in the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. Cinder was the first book and Scarlet was the second.

Even in the future. there are damsels in distress...

In the third installment of the Lunar chronicles, Cress, having risked everything to warn Cinder of Queen Levana's evil plan, has a slight problem. She's been imprisoned on a satellite since childhood and has only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress a great hacker. Unfortunately, she's just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress involving Cinder, Captain Thorne, Scarlet, and Wolf goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

I have listened to all of these books on audio (CD's) and really enjoyed listening to Rebecca Soler as the reader.

Winter by Marissa Meyer

Winter by Marissa Meyer - 824 pages

Yes! The finale to the Lunar Chronicles! Marissa Meyer did not disappoint in wrapping up the series. Most of this story happens on Luna, including the outer sectors where rebellion and revolution are stirring.

While some say Winter is too weak and soft to be a main character--I remember that she chose to be that way, and that itself is stronger than any of them.

I was thrilled.
