The Truth About the Devlins by Lisa Scottoline

The Truth About the Devlins by Lisa Scottoline-374 pages

Two sons, one the black sheep, one the favored child.  Looks can be deceiving and parents can be manipulated.  In the end which one will prove to be the most loyal to the family?  I enjoyed this very much.

Loyalty by Lisa Scottoline

Loyalty by Lisa Scottoline-408 pages

Franco dreams of owning his own plantation instead of toiling for someone else and getting nowhere.  He would do anything for the Baron he works for.  One day the baron asks him to kidnap a little boy named Dante; unknowingly setting into motion the making of the world's first Mafia family.  A book that takes you to the early history of Sicily and the rigid class system that ruled at the time.  It gives us a glimpse into a horrible madhouse where Dante is held for many years.  Gratefully there are also good people that come to his aid...but they find him too late for his family.
Lots of characters and family dynamics.  Violence, corruption and heartbreak.  A good read, I give it 4 out of  5 stars.

One friend is on a quest to see if the suicide is what it seems, and if it has any connection to the past events. Another person knows the truth, but how far are they willing to go to keep it a secret?

I did not like this book as well as her other work.

After Anna by Lisa Scottoline

After Anna by Lisa Scottoline
388 pages / 10 hrs, 51 mins

"Dr. Noah Alderman, a widower and single father, is finally content after marrying Maggie. And they're both thrilled when Maggie gets an unexpected chance to be a mother to Anna, the daughter she once thought she'd lost forever.

"But when seventeen-year-old Anna arrives, everything changes - and the darkest turn of events will shatter their lives in ways no one could have imagined."  --from the publisher

This fast-paced thriller was a wild ride.  I was intrigued and captivated even though the plot was pretty fantastical.  A great weekend read.
