Nell sets out to trace her real identity, her quest take her to Blackhurst Manor on the Cornish coast and the secrets that doomed her family, the Mountrachet's.  She purchases a cottage with the intent to go back to Australia, settle her life there and return to England and move into the cottage that she remembers.  In Australia, her granddaughter Cassandra, moves in with her and Nell's plans are never spoken about again.

After Nell's death, Cassandra finds out that she has inherited the house in the Cornish Countryside.  She travels to England and begins to unravel the mystery that surrounds Nell's life, her passage to Australia, Blackhurst Manor and Cassandra's own heritage.

I read this book on the recommendation of my sister and found that I couldn't put it down.
