Murder by Cheesecake by Rachel Ekstrom Courage

Murder by Cheesecake by Rachel Ekstrom Courage, 329 pages

Picture it: Miami, 1980-something.

This delightful slice of nostalgia has just the right amount of cheese (cake). The Golden Girls are helping Rose host a genuine St. Olaf-themed wedding for her cousin with no small amount of trouble. Between meddling elders, tense in-law encounters, and an exhaustive list of rituals, Rose leans heavily on Dorothy, Blanche, and Sophia to get everything done on time.  Dorothy tries a video dating service to find a date for the wedding but it goes badly. It ends up going from bad to worse when her would-be beau ends up dead in the hotel freezer amongst all of Rose's wedding cheesecakes. Can they save the wedding? Will Dorothy ever find love?  And why exactly does a St. Olafian wedding require so much herring?

I enjoyed this cozy murder mystery. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get more Blanche or Sophia, but hopefully if there's a sequel, they'll get their time to shine.  But it was comforting to lose myself in Golden Girl hijinks.
