If I Stay and Where She Went-Jason P.'s January Post
If I Stay by Gayle Forman-196 pages
Set in winter in Oregon, Mia is a classical musician (cellist) in high school. Her boyfriend is in a punk rock band, much like her father was before he became a teacher. One snow day (it snowed like an inch), Mia and her family decide to go for a drive and are in a horrible car accident. Mia's parents and brothers die and the story is centered on Mia's "decision" of whether or not to stay. She is in a coma from the accident and subconsciously sees and hears everything going on around her. It is a heartbreaking, yet pretty good story.
Where She Went by Gayle Forman-262 pages
This is the sequel to If I Stay set 3 years after its end. Mia has now finished Juilliard and is beginning her tour as a classical cellist. She and Adam broke up shortly after she moved to New York to attend Juilliard. Adam is now touring with his uber-popular band and by chance is in New York for Mia's first tour performance. Against his better judgement, he decides to watch her concert and they meet afterwards and spend the weekend together and it forever changes their lives (again).
