Alaska Twilight by Colleen Coble

Alaska Twilight by Colleen Coble-309 pages

Haley has a disability so she hides behind her camera.  But throughout this book she faces her fears and begins to trust again.  She experiences frightening sights, but through it all her self confidence grows and in the end she may even find love.  Very suspenseful and a good read.  I enjoyed it very much.

Carley's life is upended when her husband is killed during a home break in, leaving Carley and their infant son without support.  Her grandmother gives her an offer to her and her two sisters to restore the family home into a B & B.  While cleaning out the attic, Carly runs across an intriguing letter that was written by her husband just two days before he died.  His murder may not have been so random after all.  Family secrets abound in this very intriguing, easy read.  I enjoyed it very much.

Three Missing Days by Colleen Coble

 (Pelican Harbor #3)

352 pages / 8 hrs, 39 mins

"A shocking murder.
"Chief of Police Jane Hardy plunges into the investigation of a tragic local murder, but everything in her personal life is unraveling.

"Her son’s arrest.
"Jane’s son is accused of manslaughter, and she has to decide whether or not she can trust her ex, Reid, in the attempt to prove Will’s innocence—and whether she’s going to trust Reid with her heart.

"Three missing days.
"With the recent discovery of her mother’s whereabouts, Jane learns not only that her mother stole something vital all those years ago but that she drugged Jane so she wouldn’t be able to remember. What happened in those three days could change everything.

"It all started with one little lie. But the truth is finally coming out."  --from the publisher

I've read several Coble novels, so I know what to expect, but this one was especially disappointing for me. There are some problems with the story that the editor should have caught. a major problem with the plot (Clear evidence of the perpetrator of "an old murder" isn't reported...by the chief of police?), and the characters act in many ways that are inconsistent with their roles. I give it 2.5 stars out of 5.

One Little Lie by Colleen Coble

One Little Lie by Colleen Coble
(Pelican Harbor #1)
352 pages

"When Jane Hardy is appointed interim sheriff in Pelican Harbor, Alabama, after her father retires, there's no time for an adjustment period. He is arrested for theft and then implicated in a recent murder, and Jane quickly realizes she's facing someone out to destroy her father.

"They escaped from a cult fifteen years ago, and Jane has searched relentlessly for her mother--who refused to leave--ever since. Could someone from the horrible past have found them?

"Reid Bechtol is a well-know journalist who makes documentaries, and his sights are currently set on covering Jane's career. Jane has little interest in the attention, but the committee who appointed her loves the idea of the publicity.

"Jane finds herself depending on Reid's calm manner as he follows her around taping his documentary, and they begin working together to clear her father. But Reid has his own secrets from the past, and the gulf between them may be impossible to cross." --from the publisher

Some good ideas for a story in this book, but there are a lot of characters here, and I found it difficult to follow the main story line. I think Coble introduced so many because she plans to highlight them in subsequent books in the series, but maybe should have waited on some of them. I give it three out of five stars.
