This is the thrilling conclusion to the Clue Mystery series. I was on the edge of my seat for the ending and I really liked the multiple endings. I really liked the "real" ending the best, but all were good. I liked the multiple endings because there are multiple alternate endings in Clue: The Movie. The intrigue is so fun. I like the characters in this and the character development. Peterfreund did her best to adapt the movie and board game into a modern teen/ya mystery series. I enjoyed this and would rate it 4 stars.

This is the second book of an expected trilogy based on the "Clue" board game. In the aftermath of the events of the first book ("In the Hall with the Knife"), the newly named "Murder Crew" (Orchid, Green, Scarlett, Plum, et al.) returns to Blackbrook for the second semester. A new murder has happened unbeknownst to the student body and teachers. The janitor, Rusty, has been murdered in secret. Who is the new murderer? Why was Rusty murdered? The students and faculty of Blackbrook finally figure out that Rusty died when his body falls on Finn Plum while he's in one of the secret passages in the Tudor House. More secrets are revealed and more deaths occur in this follow-up to "In the Hall With the Knife." A third book is coming soon and I look forward to finishing this trilogy when it arrives.

 I saw this in a read alike list for Agatha Christie (I think it was her, anyway) and I was instantly intrigued. I enjoy Clue the board game and Clue: The Movie and this is based on the board game. It's a modern take on the story. It is set in Rocky Point, Maine, which is a coastal town. The setting is Blackbrook Academy and the characters all have a name from the board game in the form of either nicknames or as part of their given names. There's Green, Mustard, Mrs. White, Peacock, Mr. Boddy, Plum, and Scarlett. Also, there's other characters named Orchid and Rusty. Most are students, except for Mr. Boddy, the headmaster of the school, Mrs. White, who is the proctor of the historic Tudor House, and Rusty, who is the janitor. A big winter storm hits the school and surrounding area and makes it impossible to leave Blackbrook. Everyone left is instructed to hole up at the Tudor House. All of the above mentioned characters end up at the Tudor House together to wait out the storm and floods. The first night while they are in the house Orchid accidentally discovers Mr. Boddy's corpse in the conservatory. Who killed Mr. Boddy and why? Where was he killed (in the conservatory where he was found or elsewhere)? Secrets are revealed and some could be motive for murder. I found this to be a fun new twist on Clue. I am reading the second book in the expected trilogy next. It is called "In the Study with the Wrench."

I read this one for our monthly challenge, also. I am not enjoying reading these as much as I expected. I initially intended to read a few of these, but I have only read two and no longer plan to read any more. Each book in this series based on the board game of the same name contains a few mini-mysteries for the reader to solve. Some of them are easy to solve, but others are not as straight forward. This is not as enjoyable as the board game or the movie from the 80's based on the board game. That being said, it isn't terrible. It's just okay.

The reader must attempt to solve a series of unrelated mini-mysteries based on the board game. It is fun to try solving the mini-mysteries, but it's not as fun as the board game. I would rather play the board game, but this is fun in it's own right. It's not quite what I expected, though. I thought it would be one story in each book, but it's several mini-mysteries instead.
