I'm Glad My Mom Died is autobiographical tour through Jennette McCurdy's formative years, wherein her narcissist mother's dreams of being a Hollywood starlet were imposed on the daughter. With an unflinching, offbeat voice, expertly weaving humor and heartbreak, McCurdy details her life as a child star, the abuse she suffered at the hands of her codependent mother, and the eating disorders she developed.  

I don't read a lot of nonfiction or biographies, but I couldn't put this book down. I never watched iCarly so I was only tangentially aware of Jennette McCurdy. It is a testament to the openness of the narrative that non-fans can just pick up the book and connect with it. 

Wildflower by Drew Barrymore

Wildflower by Drew Barrymore, 276 pages

Wildflower is a very entertaining biography written by Drew Barrymore. Drew writes honestly about her relationship with her parents especially being raised by her mother and into a very famous family.  Drew became famous at a very young age which meant in turn she was forced to grow up rather quickly in the limelight.  Considering her upbringing, it is amazing she grew up to be the responsible, entrepreneur, mother/wife she is.  Wildflower is a very honest and light book on the life of girl whose life was changed forever by the movie ET.

Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography

by Neil Patrick Harris. 304 pages.

A Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style autobiography from the actor formerly (and, in many cases, still) known as Doogie Howser -- Neil Patrick Harris.  This book was hilarious.  The chapter on Scott Caan was especially funny, and will have you chanting "What's up with the West Side, yo?" for weeks following.
