Tomorrow's Garden by Amanda Cabot

Tomorrow's Garden by Amanda Cabot

Harriet Kirk tries to start her life anew by moving to Ladreville, Texas, to become a schoolteacher, but after meeting Lawrence Wood, a former Texas Ranger, she and Lawrence both realize they must put the past behind them if they are to find happiness.

Third book in the series and I enjoyed reading how the characters from the first 2 books were living now.  This is an Inspirational book, but still has murders, arson and vandalism.  Love this author.

Scattered Petals by Amanda Cabot

Scattered Petals  by Amanda Cabot 384 pages

Ranch foreman Zachary Webster knows what the future holds for him, and it's not a woman like Priscilla Morton. When necessity draws them together, Priscilla and Zach begin to forge a life that is filled with promise. But then the past intrudes, threatening their very existence.

I have become addicted to these books by Amanda Cabot.  They are "Christian", but approach subjects that aren't usually discussed in Christian books. Such as this one was about rape and murder.  There is usually a mystery and it is historical fiction, which I love.  I can't wait to read the last in the series.

Paper Roses by Amanda Cabot

Paper Roses by Amanda Cabot  378 pages

Leaving the past behind in Philadelphia, mail-order bride Sarah Dobbs arrives in San Antonio ready to greet her groom - a man she has never met but whose letters, her paper roses, have won her heart from afar. But there is a problem - Austin Canfield is dead, and Sarah cannot go back East. As Sarah tries to reconcile herself to a future that is drastically changed, Austin's brother, Clay, wants nothing more than to shake the Texas dust from his boots, but first he must find his brother's killer. And then there's Sarah.

This is the second series I have started by this author and I really enjoyed this one, also.  I love that it is historical fiction, romance and also has a mystery involved.  It kept me guessing until the end who the killer was!  Even though it is an Inspirational book and refers to God, it has a murder or two and makes it very intriguing.

After the Shadows by Amanda Cabot

After the Shadows  by Amanda Cabot  342 pages

A brighter future awaits -- if she can escape the shadows of the past. Emily Leland sheds no tears when her abusive husband is killed in a bar fight, but what awaits her back home in Sweetwater Crossing is far from the welcome and comfort she expected. First she discovers her father has died under mysterious circumstances. Then the house where the new schoolteacher and his son are supposed to board burns, leaving them homeless. When Emily proposes turning the family home into a boardinghouse, her sister is so incensed that she leaves town. Alone and broke, her family name sullied by controversy, Emily is determined to solve the mystery of her father's death -- and to aid Craig Ferguson, despite her fears of men. The widowed schoolmaster proves to be a devoted father, an innovative teacher, and an unexpected ally. Together they must work to unmask a killer and escape the shadows of their own pasts in order to forge a brighter future.

This is the first book by this author that I have read.  I thought is was an historical fiction love story.  Much to my surprise it was also a mystery!  I figured out who it was before the end of the book but it was still compelling how they solved the mystery.  It was historical fiction but the way it was solved was very much up to date and a good ending.  Can't wait to read the other 2 books in the trilogy.
