Beastly by Alex Flinn

Beastly (Beastly #1) by Alex Flinn - 300 pages

⭐⭐⭐⭐✰

This modern-day retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in New York City tells the story of a very arrogant, popular, rich, "beautiful" boy who makes fun of the wrong witch and is cursed to look as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside. Thus, the beast is born.

New characters are added to this modern fairy tale: the beast's father, who can probably be given credit for the person his son turned to be, a blind tutor, and a housekeeper with a secret.

I thought this book was really cute, and I enjoyed the internet chats between chapters.

Beastly by Alex Flinn

 Beastly by Alex Flinn-304 pages

A modern re-telling of the fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast," Beastly is a fun, enjoyable, fast read. Kyle Kingsbury is a shallow and snobby teenager who doesn't care about anyone's feelings. One day he's turned into an ugly beast/monster by a witch named Kendra after trying to humiliate her for her ugliness. He's given 2 years to find true love (he must love the person and the person must love him back). Can he find true love before the curse becomes permanent? Find out by reading this book! There's a movie loosely based on this book, also. This is our next selection for our Book to Movie Club at Windsor.
