Delicious in Dungeon, Volume 1 - 192 pages
Ryoko Kui; Taylor Engel (Translator)
Summary (From Goodreads)
When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions...and a member! They're eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they're sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: "Let's eat the monsters!" Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons...none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!
Review
I'd heard a bit about this series around the internet, and after it was recommended to me by a friend, I finally decided to give it a try. The question of how a given monster might taste has definitely come up in a few DND games. (We did end up making dragon jerky once, but that's a story for another time...) I especially liked the creative use of dungeon traps as a means of both cooking meals and for scavenging cooking oils. I also thought they had a creative take on how you might cook and eat a monster that at first glance looks to be an inedible construct. I'm looking forward to seeing which monsters (and meals) will be featured next!
