Eruption by Michael Crichton & James Patterson

Eruption by Michael Crichton & James Patterson - 432 pages

A history making eruption is about to destroy the Big Island of Hawaii, but what is inside the largest volcano on earth (Mauna Loa) could destroy the world.  A military secret hidden inside Mauna Loa is about to be unleashed.  John MacGregor the geologist that heads the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory knew that Mauna Loa was just days away from it's most violent eruption in a century, but when John is taken to the base of the volcano by military jeep and is made to put on a medal suit, boots, and face shield; he learns that what is inside a lava tube can threaten the entire world if it gets out.  This is a race against mother nature, who will not be stopped.  Can John and a team from all over the world find a way to stop this hidden secret from being unleashed.

I could not put this book down, I really enjoyed it.  I also found the maps in the front and back of the book to be most helpful in understanding the location of areas around the volcano that were being discussed.  I found this story to be true Michael Crichton style but written in a James Patterson format.
