Mother-Daughter Murder Night, Nina Simon | 357 pages
Nothing brings a family together like a murder next door.
When real estate power broker Lana gets diagnosed with cancer, she retreats to the little house by the slough with her nurse daughter and kayak guide granddaughter. Tensions are high between the three women, and then a body is found in the water. What follows is a delightful mystery running alongside family drama. I like the combination - it's so much more than a "regular" mystery. Both elements (family and mystery) were well written.
The ending is set up to lead into a series, and if it does, I'm here for it!
