The Maltese Falcon, Hammet | 217 pages
"A treasure worth killing for." Sam Spade is a private detective in San Francisco. He gets drawn in to a case that is a pure web of lies as many dangerous people seek out a gem-encrusted falcon statue.
I didn't really enjoy this book. Everyone treats everyone else horribly; there aren't any characters I found myself "rooting for". Many of the descriptions are dated and uncomfortable for a modern reader. It is a good example of classic mysteries and the femme fatale character.
This is for our Book-To-Movie club.
