Worst Case Collin by Rebecca Caprara

Worst Case Collin by Rebecca Caprara 378 pages In the two years since his mother was killed in an automobile crash, Collin has been anticipating further disasters, writing down what to do in the event of an avalanche or mentally practicing the Heimlich maneuver just in case -- but the real trouble is that his mathematician father is obsessed with a classic math problem and has a hoarding problem that is spiraling out of control, leaving Collin desperate to hide this chaos from his friends and everyone else, even as he struggles with his own grief. This is a Mark Twain nominee but it is written in verse, so it is a quick read. Great story about trying to grieve his mother's death while helping his dad with hoarding. Kids would probably like it because of the quick read and the boy always looking out for danger. But I am not sure they would understand the grieving and hoarding aspect at 8-10 years old. I totally related to this book because my father was a hoarder and I always tried to hide it from my friends and wouldn't invite anyone over to my house.
