Neon Gods by Katee Roberts (Dark Olympus #1) - 380 pages
⭐⭐⭐⭐✰
A modern retelling of Hades and Persephone...
Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the city of Olympus and start over away from the ruling Thirteen, one of which is her mother, the most recent Demeter. Her plans go awry when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, whose previous wives did not fare well.
With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden lower city and make's a devil's bargain with Hades, a man most in Olympus believe to be a myth. As Hades awakens her to a world she never knew existed, they plot to take down Zeus together.
I've always enjoyed Greek mythology. This was an interesting new spin on the traditional myths, but I wasn't hooked enough to read the next book in the series.
