Spark Joy by Marie Kondo

Spark Joy by Marie Kondo - 291 pages

The subtitle of this brief volume is "An Illustrated Master Class on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up." As such, it's billed as a companion to Kondo's first book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" and leans heavily on the concepts introduced there. So I'd recommend starting with the first book if you're really interested in learning more about Kondo's philosophy for organizing.

But this book is a fast read, especially considering many of its pages include illustrations, and if you've seen any of Kondo's self-help programs on Netflix, it provides a quick overview of many of the techniques she teaches. I also enjoyed the epilogue and the afterword, which provide some personal insight into why surrounding herself with things that spark joy is so important to the author.
