The Founding of Valdemar, Book One
Duke Kordas of Valdemar has been working on The Plan his whole life. His father and his grandfather worked on it before him. It is The Plan for the whole duchy of Valdemar to escape from the Empire and the Emperor. And it is finally coming to fruition. The only problem is that Kordas has been called to the Capital just as they are putting The Plan into action.
This is the first volume of a new series telling the origins of Valdemar by Mercedes Lackey. Hints have been given in previous books and series about the origins but we're finally getting the whole story. I enjoyed this book about the initial escape from the Empire. I hope the rest of the books explore more the start of Valdemar as a country and beginning of the Heralds.
