Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender - 368 pages

This book has been on my TBR since it was published in May 2020, and I'm so glad I finally got to it.

This is a YA book about Felix Love, a transgender young man trying to figure out his place in this world.  Abandoned by his mother when he was young, Felix feels that he is undeserving of love.  While his father is supportive of his transition, he refuses to call him by his new name, and occasionally uses the wrong pronouns.

All Felix wants is to fall in love, and be loved and accepted for who he is.  After a devestating event at his summer art school, where pictures of his past and his deadname are posted without his permission, Felix must find his inner strength to overcome hate, and become who is truly meant to be.

I felt that this book had great LGBTQIA+ representation, as well as racial diversity.  Some parts seemed a bit repetitive, and I thought it could have been pared down, but overall, I really enjoyed reading Felix's story.  Felix Ever After is a 2021 Stonewall Honor Book.
