A Life Less Throwaway: The Lost Art of Buying for Life by Tara Button

A Life Less Throwaway: The Lost Art of Buying for Life by Tara Button 272 pages

Author Tara Button was sick of cheaply made items. How much money was she wasting replacing things she already owned because they broke? She spoke about how in her grandparents lifetime, material goods were made to last, and if you had them for years and it eventually did break, people fixed it. Today, in most cases it is cheaper and easier to just replace a broken item than try to fix it. This has detrimental effects to our environment and is not great for our wallets either. She decided to do something about it. She started a website call "buymeonce.com" where her and a team of employees find high quality goods that are made to last, most with lifetime guarantees. She also wrote this book in hopes of spreading the word that we don't have to accept cheaply made goods from companies who don't care about their customers, their employees, or the environment. The first step into changing, is to be aware of the problem.

I loved this book. I think it may change the way I look at my purchases.. forever, I hope. Quality over quantity is key and it is so important to really research what companies you are giving your money too.
