HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE By J.K. Rowling 309 pages
Harry Potter is an young orphan boy, being grudgingly raised by his mother's sister, her husband and his very spoiled cousin Dudley. He lives in a little room under the stair well and has resigned himself to a life of misery, but things suddenly change on his 11th birthday, when he finds out that he is a wizard, as were his parents. He is summoned to attend Hogwarts, an infamous school for wizards, where he meets other wizards in training, learns from a unique curriculum, and finally discovers his birthright and begins to realize just how special he actually is.
This is the first book in the Harry Potter series, and was banned from some school libraries, especially religious ones, due to the supernatural aspects of the book. In fact, one pastor suggested that the spells and curses were actually real, and if read by a human could actually risk conjuring evil spirits!
