In Defense of Elitism by Joel Stein

In Defense of Elitism: Why I'm Better Than You and You Are Better Than Someone Who Didn't Buy This Book by Joel Stein -308 pages

Stein's satirical book on the political divide in the U.S. is very funny, but also has a serious mission of exploring why the populist movement is dangerous. The author was a columnist for Time and is in favor of gun control and liberal immigration policies, though he feels guilty his elite neighborhood is patrolled by private security teams and the only non-whites are the maids and gardeners. He interviews average people in "red" states as well as famous pundits who have supported Donald Trump in order to understand their distrust of government. This is a thought provoking book for readers on both sides of the political spectrum.
