Monsieur Perdu owns a floating bookstore in Paris where he prescribes books like medicine to his customers. He can tell just what book you need to cure your broken heart or to answer your question of what to do next. He lives a very quiet life that hasn't changed in many years. Until a woman named Catherine moves to his apartment and he is asked by the complex owner if he has any extra furniture that he could help her out with because she had none. Perdu opens up his second room that has been hidden by a bookcase for twenty years to fetch an extra table. Catherine discovers a letter that was sealed into a drawer of the table and Perdu doesn't want to have anything to do with it.. When he finally decides to read it, it takes him on the journey of a lifetime.
A floating bookstore in Paris with a man who prescribes the right books to heal your soul?? Yes, sign me up, I want to read all about it. The concept of the book is beautiful. However, I felt it could have been executed a little differently. There were parts that really dragged on and some language I didn't like. Overall, I am glad I read it but I would not read it again.
