Overdressed

In overdressed, Elizabeth dives into the fast fashion industry head first. She covers topics such as how fast fashion came to be and why this new way of shopping is detrimental to our environment and inhumane to the garment workers who are now making our cheap clothing.

This book is as fascinating as it is depressing, I think everyone should give it a read to be educated in the subject. I believe it will forever impact the way I shop for clothes from here on out. The most interesting topic to me was when the author talked about in the earlier 1900's when clothes were more costly and better made, but for this reason, people took care of them, they mended them, they owned fewer but more quality pieces. Compared to today where we almost don't even expect our clothing to last for more than a season, but it is ok with us because they were so cheap and will be out of style by next season anyway. This is a really horrible mindset many of us have today and needs to change.
