Fumio is a bachelor in his mid thirties, he lives a normal, maybe borderline maximalist lifestyle. He likes to buy new clothes, he has huge bookshelf in his entry way, he has collection of cds and dvds. Fumio is very unhappy and decides to embark on a minimalist lifestyle. Minimalists live with only necessities. For example he only uses on hand towel for everything such as a bath towel to cleaning up spills. He finds that clearing the clutter, he is much happier and has more time to do other things. His lifestyle is healthier and he also finds his space easier to keep clean which also increases his happiness.
It is a very interesting lifestyle, and I do believe in the benefits he is describing. However, I find it way too extreme and near impossible to achieve that kind of minimalism if you are anyone other than a young bachelor. He also talks an obsessive amount about Steve Jobs which I found to be very annoying.
