New parents are constantly bombarded with advertisements promising how all these baby gadgets are going to make their lives easier. Even friends and family give recommendations on products you "just can't live without." This book breaks down all the baby stuff new parents are told they need and puts it into perspective. The book also categorizes families into beginning minimalists, intermediate minimalists, and all-in minimalists, based on how hardcore you want to go with the lack of stuff. Babies really do not need much things in the beginning, to a point; some things can make your life easier such as a baby swing or rocker, but too much accumulation of baby things can be much more stressful. The more things you own, the more you have to clean, and store, and repair if necessary. Not to mention all the more important things you can be doing with the money you spend.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. It is definitely geared towards first time parents, but it is a good refresher and reminder to me that I do not need to go out and spend a fortune on an outfitted nursery or entire wardrobe that they will grow out of in a couple of months.
