Pretty Mess is the story of how Erika Girardi became Erika Jayne, her alter ego personality. It tells the story of how Erika grew up a poor child raised in the South by a single mother. She moved to New York as a young adult and worked as a cocktail waitress and stripper while she went on auditions. She met her first husband, Tommy, at a very young age and had her first child Thomas in her early twenties. She struggled to find work as an actress, so she moved to Hollywood to go on auditions and worked as a cocktail waitress at an upscale restaurant. This is where she met her current husband Tom Girardi, a very successful lawyer and much older man. She does credit him for encouraging her to become Erika Jayne a risk taker performer who is very provocative. Most people know her now from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. This was a good book especially if you like to read about strong women who do what they want.
