Phasma by Delilah S. Dawson

Phasma by Delilah S. Dawson - 400 pages

I was excited when this book was announced that we would finally get some insight into the backstory of this character who didn't do much in "The Force Awakens".  The plot centers on a captured rebel spy who is being tortured to reveal the secrets of Phasma's past to a rival in the First Order.  The storytelling is a bit clunky as it switches between timeframes and locations and the plot sometimes seems a bit too much Mad Max: Fury Road.  But I did learn about Phasma's motivation and the forces that drive her so I am hoping she plays a more active role in "The Last Jedi."  The book paints her as pretty much a sociopath so that does open up some very interesting avenues to explore.  Plus who doesn't love watching Gwendoline Christie in a fight scene?
