Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy (Book 2)
When Disney bought Star Wars all the previous books that extended the story past the original movies were declared no longer canon. They are now considered "Extended Universe." The Aftermath trilogy is an attempt to reset the timeline after Return of the Jedi to make it match up with the characters and events in The Force Awakens.
This book finds Princess Leia and Han Solo in the early days of their marriage dealing with the chaos of the fall of the Empire. The Wookie planet of Kashyyk is still suffering under the iron fist of a remnant of the Empire and Chewbacca has been taken captive. Han Solo is doing his best to rescue his friend and save the planet when he too goes missing. The bounty hunting team from the first Aftermath book is given the task of finding Han Solo by Princess Leia and they soon become embroiled in the larger conflict.
The first Aftermath book was a bit dry and is it introduced a wide range of characters and established the state of galactic politics after Return of the Jedi. This book is much more action packed and with the inclusion of more original trilogy characters it is a more enjoyable read. I'm interested to see how things match up and how the new books will differ from what had come before.
