Snow White Trilogy, Book 1
17 year old Lumikki attends a prestigious art school in Tampere, Finland. She's not very popular and comes from a troubled past. A startling discovery in the school's darkroom propels Lumikki into investigating Tampere's criminal underground and an unlikely friendship while trying to save the local rich girl who has made dangerous choices. There is a lot of violence in this book and adult themes even though it is marketed as a teen book. Simukka is very good at describing the world of the book so it reads like one is watching a movie. I was expecting though more of a Snow White connection beyond Lumikki being the Finnish name for the Snow White character. Perhaps that comes later in the series.
