Captain Magma and Lalva boy give readers the ten rules that need to be known for being a superhero….responding to help and making lots of noise. I was hoping to read this book for our upcoming summer reading program but I thought this book was a bit of a dissappointmnet.

What Do Parents Do When Your Not at Home by Jeanie Ransom 32
I expected this book to be a rhyming tale like the book What tdo teachers do after you leave school…but this book was just akward and boring. Two kids go to grandmas for an overnight and they kids envision their parents doing everything that they are told not to do.

A little girl describes why she has super powers to readers…Adults will laugh but kids may not get the jokes. The colors are not very vibrant, seems as though this was another childrens book written for adults.

Wiener Wolf longs for adventure and decides to leave his comfy home, but after living with a pack of wolves he realizes that he misses granny and her home more than ever.

Area 51 Uncensored by Annie Jacobson 544
No answers here, basically an in depth history of all the secret air craft that have been tested….the U2, ox cart and the Russian Mig. As for Roswell the last chapter is the most telling, claiming that the crashed ship was Russian and the bodies inside of it were actually children who had been expieremtned on by World war 2 scientists.

Christmas Mice by Bethany Roberts 24
Christmas mice are out to get their tree and to get ready for Christmas company!

The Best Thanksgiving Ever by Teddy Slater 32
I forgot how cute this book was especially with the surprise enging as all the turkeys are having a fest of corn.

Thanksgiving Cats by Jean Marzollo 32
Farmer cats are harvesting, backing and eating pie with cheese? The story is quick but a bit of a stretch.

A night time tale with elements of nature and the reminder that God is watching over you.

The Red Racer by Audrey Wood 40
A little girl wants a bike so bad she ruins her old one to get it, except for when she gets home her parents have bought all the supplies to make her bike like new. S he lucks out when she finds her bike has been spared from disisater and is able to make things right with her parents.

The kids in Mrs. Frizzles class are on other trip  inside the human body, very informativea about the digestion process a bit disturbing when they talked about stomach juice splashing outside the bus windows.

The Unteathered Soul by Michael Singer 232
This was my second attempt at this book and I am so glad I finished it! Learning about each moment of life and living in that present moment is something we could all use an education on….Letting go and moving past little things that may hold us up from living our best possible lives…
The School Fair by Ellen Trent 32
Spencer wants to help at the school fair but he cannot find something he is good at to help participate but when all the other students need help getting ready for the fair, Spencer is already and into action getting everyone assigned to the right place, it is then that Spencer realizes that being a leader is an importatnt job too.

Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth  Pfeffer 362
When a comet collides with the moon and knocks it out of allignement the earth feels dramatic after effects…slowly at first but quickly losing power, gas and all the amenities of the modern day world. This book is written in diary format of a young girl, Miranda….Readers see Miranda grow and change through this earthly tradgedey.

Thomas saves the day when Santas sled goes off course down a hill and he has to save him. Thomas saves Christmas for the island of Sodor.

Arlo Rolled by Susan Pearson 32
Arlo is pea who is not content with just sitting in his pod, so off he rolls. Arlo rolls to and from different adventures and and finally resting only to wake up as a vine!

Find Spot by Stacey Previn 40
This book makes me thing of the Tom Seeger books, simple pictures with vibrant colors, minimal text. Kids will enjoy the rhymes and figuring out what item will come on the proceeding pages.

No Two Alike by Keith Baker 40
A simple picture book featuring two red birds in the middle of Winter and the story line begins with the line, no two alike and the story takes readers full circle closing with…again, no two alike.

The Food Parade by Elicia Castaldi 32
Considering the audience I expected more from this book, but really it was no different from any other offering that is available to kids on the subject matter…..Food groups and examples of each presented.
Thomas Goes Fishing by Rev W. Awdry 32
When Thomas sees some kids fishing he decides that he too wants to fish and he kind of gets the opportunity when the conductor is in need of an emergencey water supply and fills Thomas up at the river. As Thomas chugs along he gets the flurries in  his engine, which turn out to be fish!

Fireman Fred by Lynn Reed 24
When Fireman Fred goes out on a call he gets more than just fighting a fire, he ends up bringing a dog back to the station as a new pet to nap with.

Green is A Chile Pepper by Roseanne Thong40
Another Spanish/English text incorporation to teach kids the basic colors. Each picture features a a rhyme and color to help little kids identify what they are learning and saying.

Mice on Ice by Rebecca Emberly 32
Very cute easy reader that follows mice out ice skating,  slowly an illustration emerges from where the mice are skating and kids will be surprised to see the drawing of a cat on the pond…a cat who comes to life and skates right along side of the mice.

Sadie the Dog Who Finds the Evidence by Thea Feldman 32
I love this new hero dog series! This title features and real life arson dog and what she does in everyday life and how she came to work for the fire department.

Otis and the Scarecrow by Loren Long 40
Not real sure where the storyline to this book went…but I kept waitng for the scarecrow to come to life or smile since the story focused on the sadness of this scarecrow, but the end only concluded with Otis and other animals sitting around him in the field.

Pinkalicious : Flower Girl by Victoria Kann 24
Pinkalicious and her brother are thrilled when they hear she will be a flower girl , they are quick to make petal costumes and to throw cooking flour in the kitchen…only after the mess is when mom finds them and explains to her what she will really be doing at the wedding.

In a Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis 384
Another  take on Dystopian fiction, this time a young girl Lucy must leave her community when others are convinced she may carry the Polio virus. Not knowing she would not carry forever, her and her life long mother figure Lin leave Ohio for the promises of what California may hold. They encounter people and other communities along the way and at times readers will wonder if they will give up all together, but those who stick with Lucy on this journey will be rewarded in the end.

Wings on Things by Marc Brown  36
Wings on things everywhere Flying here and flying here and flying there.  A quick rhyming tale about flying things…Dragons yes, Wagons No.

Round is a Tortilla by Roseanne Greenfieild Thong 40
I love when books incorporate Spanish in picture books in a way that kids are learning Spanish as they listen. Kids learn a litte about shapes and a little about Hispanic culture in this book with rhyming couplets.

Good Night St. Louis by Juane Dubray 40
We got this book as a gift and I loved it, the art was whimsical and it highlighted all the things in St Louis a little kid would like to see and do…I was thinking of using this book as a scavenger hunt and gluing pictutres into the illustrtaions of our family as we visit each of the locations.

Pinkalicious Fairy House by  Victoria Kann 32
Pinkalicious and her brother want to stay up late to see the garden fairies but of course like every other tale the kids fall asleep and when they awaken there is a trace of Fairy dust in the sky to prove that even though they did not see them, the fairies were thre.

That Toad is Mine by Barbra Shook 24
A quick story about sharing, when two boys fight over a toad, while fighting and being mad the toad gets away and no one gets him…and the boys dispel there anger by kicking a rock and forget why they were mad at one another in the first place.

Water Can Be by Laura Salas 32
With this seasonal tale kids learn all about water, its differtn jobs and the different states of matter it takes on with its uses and seasonal changes.

Planet Kindergarten by Sue Ganz- Schmitt 37
Cute book for kids and parents! Author applauds kids  and parents for being brave and the space anologies will make parents laugh out loud as they read to their little ones.

The Pout Pout Fish Goes to School by Deborah Diesen 32
I really loved this book because it reinforces the idea that kids will learn and should never give up. By the end of the story everyone is reciting the 1,2, 3, 4 message.

Bear’s School Day by Stella Blackstone 24
Another perfect book that takes readers through what their first day at school might me like and what they may encounter when they het there.

He Bear She Bear by Stan and Jan Berenstain 42
When I frist started reading this book I thought it was aged in the fact that it was giving traditional gender and career roles…but as I read on through the pages I realized that the message was he or she…you can be anything you want to be.

Snow Joke by Bruce Degen 24
Jake the bunny keeps playing jokes on everyone but things are not so funny when the joke gets pulled on him. He takes off on his own until a friendly bunny extends a hand with a cup of cocoa. This book is perfect for reminding kids that sometimes jokes are funny until they are on you.

SKippyjon Jones Snow What by Judy Schachner 32
The chiuauah dog is at again…this time in the retelling of Snow White. Skippy does not want to hear about princesses….but in his story he ends up fighting a dragon and saving the day. And not snow white…Snow What.

Work Dogs Work by James Horvath 40
This is the third title in this series and this is my favorite yet. The dogs work and work on building a road all the way to the beach and end of a hard day they all head for fun in the sun.
