Describes a teen girl's descent into the world of drugs, in particular, meth. Kristina calls it the "monster", because once you get a taste for it, you'll do anything to achieve that high. Unfortunately, it changes her attitude, her appearance, and leads her to lie to others as well as herself. The author does a good job of describing what the addict goes through.
