The Little House on the Prairie books were some of my favorite stories when I was young. They were the first books I bought on my own. With all the snow we had earlier in the month I had a sudden urge to read The Long Winter again. It's probably been at least 20 years since I last read it. I still enjoyed the book although I did find that Wilder's incredibly detailed descriptions sometimes seemed annoying and caused the book to lose momentum. Still, I'm looking forward to introducing my niece to the Little House books in a few years.
