Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs published 1914 an ebook of 189 pages
Another series written by Burroughs. Tarzan has been brought to the silver screen many times and by many actors, though Johnny Weissmuller is still my favorite.
In this book John and
Alice Clayton (Lord and Lady Greystoke), are shown. After the tragic
demise of Tarzan's parents, we follow the infant Tarzan through his
early life. Though Tarzan is small and under developed, compared with
his playmates among the apes, he still survives and learns the ways
of the jungle. His life takes a great turn with his first encounters
with white people like himself, and of course there is Jane.
The remarkable breeding
of Tarzan is emphasized as his superiority over lessor creatures
manifests itself. This idea isn't particularly accepted in today's
culture, but it opens a window into the mind of those in an earlier
time.
