The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook

The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook, 267 pages

The Aftermath tells the intertwining tales of the British Morgan family and the German Lubert family in the aftermath of World War II.  Set in post-war occupied Hamburg, Colonel Lewis Morgan is a governor in charge of rebuilding his district.  When he is assigned a requisitioned home for his family, he makes the unheard of decision to allow its German occupants to remain.  What occurs at first is a delicate balance but it soon turns into something more.

In all, I found the book to be an intriguing read.  According to the afterward, the novel is loosely based on a true story and a screenplay based on the novel has already been sold.
