In this most recent Leslie Meier book, Lucy Stone must find who killed Jake Marlowe, one of the owners of Downeast Mortgage. Jake was killed when a package he receives in the mail explodes at his home. Lucy must find the killer who is also threatening the other owner of Downeast Mortgage, Ben Scribner. It turns out Jake and Ben aren't such nice businessmen, who are making money off other people's down and out luck. These two take no pity on those who cannot pay their mortgages. After foreclosing on many properties in Tinker's Cove, Maine, it makes them the target of many people's misfortune. Lucy is covering the story for her job as a reporter for the local Pennysaver newspaper. Lucy also finds time to grocery shop for her family and to act in the local holiday production of A Christmas Carol. This was a fun Christmas mystery!
