Sophy agrees to marry the Earl of Ravenwood under three conditions --
1. He allows her to read anything she wants
2. He won't exile her in the country
3. They won't consummate the marriage for one month
Unfortunately, he breaks all three of those agreements within a couple weeks of the wedding. Sophy doesn't give up hope though -- she decides instead to be the perfect wife who leaves her husband alone except when he comes to her bed. She'll focus her efforts on finding the man who ruined and cast aside her sister.
I listened to this on audio and found it interesting and fun. Another great historical romance from Amanda Quick.
