When Kim is caught trying to sneak a peek at a magician's wagon, she is surprised to be offered a job as assistant by that same magician. Turns out he's searching for a magical platter that he was accused of stealing. Now they have to avoid the police, a bunch of druids, and nearly every person in the area who is also trying to find the platter.
I didn't think this was as good as the other books I've read by Wrede. It took quite a while for me to get into the book. I think part of it was the "thief" cant that Kim spoke in for most of the book. It tended to throw you out of the story trying to decipher what she said.
